RE: Holidays started with a "bang"

My first camper {a Jayco alunimum side} was punctured by a tree branch about 4 feet above the right side trailer brake light. Hole was about the size of a nickel but did not go inside rig. Brought to shop and they said save time and money and install outside light with switch! Turned out to be a great idea, A light on the rear when I needed it.

RE: Height regrets?

Watch what the factory specs say, Mine said 13' 3" but the a/c units rub on the red iron of our rented storage unit that is only 13' 4 1/2". On waiting list for other storage. I keep a bow saw in my camper for emergency. Only used it once when trying to get into a spot.

RE: 2008 Coachmen Adrenaline 400DS

We love our 06 Adrenline 400DS. (see profile) Everything works great, bought it new in 9-05. Factory wiring for tank heaters was wrong but fixed under warrenty. 2 things though... Its weight was a factor in the demise our 03 F-350 6.0 drw truck, egr.oil cooler etc. Your 7.3L will most likely be better. Also, the height. The factory specs say 13' 3" but the AC units rub on the roof of our storage unit thats 13' 4 1\2" which is the second thing. Im on waiting list for better storage place. Bought new 08 F450 and now tows GREAT!

RE: 5th wheel tailgate or not

I only tow once a month or so. Kept old but good v- gate when I got new truck. Built in step on Ford gate is useful and to heavy to swap, plus need hinge adapter on old gate... oh well!

My truck Job 2 with 4.30 rear, best hwy, 67 mph. at 2250 rpm 12.8/13 mpg. city is 1.5 mpg less. Towing 40' toyhauler loaded 17k+ at 67mph and 2250rpm. gets 7.3/7.5 mpg. Towing 7x16' V-nose enclosed trailer 4k+ at same speed gets 9.5 mpg. My truck just turned 7000 miles.

RE: Real Height of Unit

18 wheelers do not go to campgrounds. Keep a eye out for low branches and such when there. Our camper in profile is 13'5" from the factory. The specs said 13'3". The front ac hits the roof of our storage unit when we unhitch and leave it.

RE: Contemplating New Toy Hauler Purchase??Help

My camper in profile has the same dry weight and all, loaded with two 28 gal. gas tanks and 200 gal. fresh water tank half full, three 4 wheelers as heavy as I could get it was just over 17K pounds. It pulled great with my old '03 F350 dually, I was just ready for something new.

RE: Biggest Fiver I have ever seen!!!

I have seen movie production trailers for supporting actors with eight slides, but that was for four makeup rooms in one unit. That one could be for a star and spouse/family on site. Very quiet generators and support equipment on movis sites!

RE: 2003 F-250 6.0 Powerstroke Manufacture date 12/02

I only had wire harness problems and bad injectors replaced when under warranty, The pages in the checkbook started flying at 104,000 miles. But once it was fixed it ran great, till the next problem. It was never programmed or chipped, the intake and exhaust were always stock. Good Luck to you on your decision!!

RE: 2003 F-250 6.0 Powerstroke Manufacture date 12/02

The one in my sig pic was 12-02. Had several problems out of warrenty in '07. New altenanor, water pump pulley shattered, clogged oil-cracked egr cooler last straw was high pressure oil pump. I can see though why they are attractive to you, powerful, sound good, and perhaps cheap I know people who had no problems and are happy. They are perfect if you are a mechanic or it is a hobby. I traded mine at only 126,000 miles This '08 so far is turning out much better.

RE: GOLF CARTS

Many Private campgrounds allow them down here and we can take it for a spin in our little neighborhood, plus they can be customized. Ours is a '02 ez-go with a 5" lift with 22" wheels, 36 volt electric but we ride our bikes too! Having a toy hauler helps too!!

RE: Who is pulling 40 plus feet?

Yes, Mine measures 41' If you get a pull thru site then you're probably ok but at most campgrounds you may need to unload before backing in, that includes the BBQ pit. Also they are generally taller, watch out for low tree branches, Good Luck!

RE: Bed to trailer height

I am going to find this out too!! Im getting my hitch installed this friday on my new F-450 CC 4X4! In my profile pic my combo rode good with old 4X2 F-350 but now new truck is three inches higher. Camper is stored inside storage and front A/C pushes slightly against roof framing while hitching. Storage roof is 13'5 camper is 13'3, old truck broke and has been replaced so the adventure begins. Before raising your camper make sure you don't go too high.

RE: Air bags on F-450

I still have not installed my hitch in my 08 F-450 But I do see an issue. Dieselgem's truck is not 4X4 so it will sit level when loaded, like my old F-350 (in profile) Mine is 4X4 so it may need to be bagged. Have to wait after holidays now for hitch install.

RE: Ford 6.0L PSD POLL

Many Problems with 2003 6.0l, Picture still in profile. Had 126,000 miles when traded. Towed once under warrenty, 3 times after. DW was with me on last breakdown that cost $1,600. Everyone else had good luck with theirs. When it was running though, I loved it... Bought 2008 F450 crew cab 4x4 in Oct. 07 so far so good.
